There was a spectacular grouping of Transient Killer Whales today. These Killer Whales, the mammal eating ones, generally spend their time in smaller groups so they're able to be stealthy in their hunting of prey. It was usual, and a real treat, to see 20+ of them all together! They were still in the area when we reluctantly had to bring our boat back to the dock, so there's a great chance that they'll be around for our trip tomorrow.

It was a stunning day out on the West Coast, and our passengers had a great time out on the water! After everybody got into their warm (and always stylish) red cruiser suits they set off on an adventure. They took lots of photos of our scenic Inner Harbour, and then zoomed off into the horizon. Once they arrived at the Historic Race rocks they were able to take in the antics of many harbour seals, as well as some sleepy sea lions. It's always astonishing to see these animals in the natural state, and we can't wait to catch up with them again tomorrow.

Whales Viewed Today!
Our guests today had the magical experience of seeing not only the oldest known killer whales, but also the youngest!
The J-pod of Resident Killer Whales stopped in for the day (and hopefully for the weekend!) to show off their newest addition to the pod. The latest J-Baby was born just after the New Year, and it’s an absolute joy to see it swim alongside its mother. This baby will nurse for over a year on milk that is 25-40% fat until it starts to learn how to hunt and eat fish.
Also viewed this morning were sightings of Granny and Ruffles, our two oldest Killer Whales. It was incredibly moving to see all of these generations of whales together, and we’ll be posting pictures on our blog later this weekend http://princeofwhales.blogspot.com/

Our Skipper Mallard was out searching the seas this afternoon with his binoculars and came across a spectacular group of resident Killer Whales. We're hoping that they're going to stick around for a few days and that our trip tomorrow will be able to experience the thrill of seeing the Pacific's most exciting Marine Mammal. Today was one of the best days that we've had out on the water in quite some time. The sun was shining and the ocean was so calm it was hard to believe we weren't out on a lake. As our Zodiac style boat departed from Victoria harbour we found three separate groups of Dall's porpoise. Our passengers even got a great show from one of the groups which was relentless in it's activity around the boat. We finished off our trip today with some seals and sea lions at Race Rocks. Join us again tomorrow for new adventures on our Zodiac boat.

Whales Viewed Today!
Our guests were treated to the spectacular sight of Transient Killer Whales making a kill out at Constance Bank! Transient Killer Whales live here year round, and eat other mammals. Their favorite meal is seals, but they also eat sea lions and even other whales!

Good Morning Victoria!
It has been so delightfully warm here, it's hard to remember that it's only January! The10°C weather we have here today makes us not even mind the rain.

It's a stunning day on the West Coast and the Weather Man is predicting even nicer days ahead!

The Center for Whale Research designated the calf as J-47 and confirmed that the mother is J-35, a 12-year-old orca known as Tahlequah. The population of J Pod has now reached 28 and that of the three resident pods saw the birth of six calves within the past year.
