This is the ultimate Victoria day tour. Escape the big city of Vancouver for a day or two and visit British Columbia’s charming capital city of Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Our 60′ covered cruiser, the Ocean Magic, takes a breathtakingly beautiful route across Georgia Strait and through the Gulf Islands on an expedition to find marine mammals, from little Harbour Seals to the magnificent Killer Whales and Humpbacks that roam our waters. The whale watching tour concludes in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, where you will have time to explore the city and discover our neat shops, attractions and restaurants. Shuttle busses will depart from downtown Victoria throughout the afternoon, to deliver you up to the world famous Butchart Gardens for a couple of hours of leisurely strolling and a chance to stop and smell the roses. That evening you will re-board the Ocean Magic at The Garden’s private dock, for a two hour sunset cruise back to beautiful Coal Harbour in Vancouver, just in time for dinner!

Do note that many people are so enchanted by the beauty of Victoria that they want to spend the night and return to Vancouver with us the next day. We are happy to recommend our partner hotels if you would like to make this a multi-day tour, so just ask our friendly agents about what kind of plans they can make for you.

We’ll arrange a flight for you on a seaplane between Vancouver & Victoria Harbour. Not only is this the fastest way to travel the distance, but one of the most scenic! The seaplane schedule is flexible, and we can customize the departure to meet your needs.

Once in Victoria you will depart on either our Ocean Magic Cruiser or Zodiac Tour for a 3-hour whale watching tour! Depending on the season you could see Killer Whales, Humpback Whales, Minke Whales, Gray Whales, seals, sealions, porpoises, abundant waterfowl and more.

In Victoria, you will discover a very walkable city with small funky boutiques, cafes and restaurants, beautiful galleries, museums and the oldest Chinatown in Canada. Your return journey will be by float plane, soaring above the Gulf Islands and the waters of the beautiful ocean that you so recently explored.

This trip is sold as a Whale Watching trip from March 30 – October 31. Outside of those dates it is offered as a Wildlife Tour. Whales, although frequently viewed, are not guaranteed on our Wildlife Trips. There is limited availability on the Ocean Magic during the Winter season, so please call for details.

Southbound Adventure Crossing

Whale-watch your way to Victoria on a spectacular marine wildlife adventure. In the same amount of time as it would take to travel the regular road and ferry route, you can depart from the harbour in Vancouver, enjoy a guided whale watching tour and arrive in downtown Victoria by 1pm.

Start out from Vancouver’s Coal Harbour and settle into the comfortable interior of an Ocean Magic Cruiser or climb up to the top deck to enjoy the wind in your hair and prepare to enjoy an amazing day. Travelling through the scenic small islands that dot the ocean between Victoria and Vancouver, your boat will carry you in search of the most fantastic wildlife to be found on this coast while an on board naturalist explains where you are and what you might see, as well as providing information on our Resident and Transient Killer Whale pods. Arrive in downtown Victoria in time for lunch and a stroll through the quaint city streets.

If you want to see it all and have limited time, add a return flight on either a seaplane or a helicopter to the Southbound Adventure Crossing to make the most of your journey to Vancouver Island. Whale watch your way through the Gulf Islands and then soar above them on your way back to Vancouver. Prefer to escape to Victoria for a bit longer? Ask any of our agents to recommend hotels in Victoria and stay over for a night or two and fly back another day. Call our office to book!

Whirlybird and Whales

The Whirlybird and Whales Tour is another way to experience whales and wildlife year round, when departing from Vancouver. We invite guests to book this tour if they are looking for a unique way to discover Vancouver Island, by catching a helicopter flight over to Victoria for a whale watching excursion. Choose from either the thrill ride on the Zodiac or the laid-back comfort of the Ocean Magic. If time is working against you, these short flights on either side of a three hour tour can be the quickest way to experience whale watching from Vancouver. Or – take your time and stay over in Victoria for a night or two and join our Whales and Gardens excursion instead. We recommend you call our friendly office staff to get a customized arrangement built for you.
